Barry Owens, associate pastor, and Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery with military honors accorded by Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Bob Price was born on September 7, 1927 in Reading, Kansas to Benjamin Ferguson Price, Sr. and Gladys Watson Price. He received a B. S. degree in animal husbandry from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1951. He married Martha (Marty) White on December 29, 1951 in Oklahoma City, and he served as a U. S. Air Force jet fighter pilot during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Air Medal for his combat missions. He and Marty returned to Pampa where he owned and operated a ranch for the past 50 years. In 1966, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives where he represented the Texas Panhandle in a manner all people could be proud. He was known as the only member of Congress who flew Mach-3 in the SR-71 Blackbird, the F111-A, and the F-4E Phantom. In 1978, he was elected to the Texas State Senate where he again shared his passion for helping the people of the Panhandle. He and Marty returned to Pampa permanently in 1981. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 AF & AM, the El Paso Scottish Rite Consistory, Khiva Temple of Amarillo, Pampa Shrine Club, and was a former member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club.Bob traveled the world but he always returned home expressing his respect and admiration for democracy and the freedom we have in America. Despite his travels, Bob was never happier or freer than while working at the ranch. He farmed and ranched until his death.SURVIVORS: Wife of almost 53 years, Marty Price, of the home; 1 son: Carl Price, his wife Kelly and their children, Courtney, Grayson, Bridget, and Daniella, all of Houston; 1 daughter: Janice Johnson, her husband Marc and their children Nicholas, Miles, and Elise, all of Indianapolis, IN; 1 brother: Ben Price, Jr. of Reading, Kansas. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Wayne Price, who died at birth, and a son Robert Grant Price, who died in 1987. At Grant's funeral, Bob wrote, "He was loaned to his mother and me for a very short time." Bob Price was loaned to our family and friends to make a difference in our lives. He was kind and caring to many different people in many different walks of life.
