SERVICES: 2:00 PM Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Pampa, and Rev. Don Harold, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Mumford was born July 15, 1928 in Toledo, Illinois. He came to Pampa in 1952 from New Iberia, Louisiana. He married Neva Jo Wolf on November 27, 1954 in Childress County. He played semi-professional baseball at New Iberia, Louisiana before moving to Pampa. He was a repairman and lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Harrah Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 AF & AM and was a longtime member of the Pampa Optimist Club where he coached baseball for several years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II.SURVIVORS: Wife: Neva Jo Mumford of the home. 2 Sons: Carl Mumford & fiancee Deborah Gunther of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Tracy Mumford & wife Sherry of Roswell, New Mexico. 1 Daughter: Carolyn Ford & husband Scott of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. 1 Brother: Wilson Mumford of Brooksville, Florida. 5 Grandchildren: Joe Mumford of Tempe, Arizona, Cherice Mumford of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jahanna Mumford of Roswell, New Mexico, Kristia Ford and Aaron Ford, both of Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
