Virginia Laycock, 78, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, in Amarillo.Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Paul Nachtigall, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mrs. Laycock was born March 16, 1935 in Tulare, California. She married Clyde Laycock on May 1, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico. Virginia was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She was employed by Anthony?s, J. C. Penney, and Jo Ann?s Fabrics. She was a member of the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. Virginia enjoyed quilting and fishing, and she was an avid sports fan, especially for the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.Survivors include her husband, Clyde Laycock, of the home; three sons, Randy Laycock and wife Lea of Lubbock, Dennis Laycock and wife Kim of Pampa, and Tommy Laycock and companion Kassandra Penney of Thorndale; a daughter, Sherri Hooten and husband Stan of Amarillo; a brother, Jim White of Bullhead City, Arizona; four sisters, Pat Odom of Graham, Nancy Brietkoph of Ingram, Marsha Barrett of White Deer, and Lisa Simmons of Lubbock; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Mayme White, by an infant son, Stephen J. Laycock, in 1959, by a brother, David White, and by a sister, Jane Tibbs.Memorials may be made to Pampa Senior Citizens Center, 500 W. Francis, Pampa, TX 79065.
