Irma Virginia Puryear, 91, of Pampa, died October 13, 2015 in Wichita Falls. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Ruby Moultrie, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Puryear was born August 17, 1924 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was a 1940 graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She married W. C. “Pard” Puryear on July 29, 1945 in Tulsa. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2012. Irma was an inspector for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft during World War II. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1948, moving from Wetumka, Oklahoma. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Crusaders Sunday school class. She and her husband taught Sunday school for two-year old children for many years. Irma was a member of several bridge clubs and the Quilt Guild. Irma was preceded in death by a grandson, Rob Puryear, and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Puryear. Survivors include two sons, John Puryear and wife Sandy of Graham, and Bobby Puryear of Eagle River, Alaska; a daughter, Debbie Brown and husband Bob of Wichita Falls; a sister, Barbara DeMoss and husband Darrel of Pampa; a brother, Warren Scruggs and wife Peggy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
