Gilbert Richard "Bert" Haiduk

Gilbert Richard “Bert” Haiduk, formerly of White Deer, Texas and Lubbock, Texas, died on December 2, 2015 at the age of 88, in the loving company of family. He passed away peacefully at home where he had lived with his daughter, Kala, and her family since June of this year. Vigil services will be at 6:30 PM, Monday, December 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Miezcyslaw Przepiora, pastor, officiating. A private family inurnment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa, Texas. Bert was born in White Deer, Texas on October 25, 1927, to Ben and Tekla Haiduk. After attending West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, Bert joined the Navy. He married Evelyn Jane Allen in 1950 and they had seven children. Bert and Evelyn lived on the family farm outside of White Deer where they raised their family. He worked for Natural Gas Pipeline Company until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church until he moved to Lubbock in 1997 when he married Glenna Sealy. Bert resided in White Deer for more than 68 years before moving to Lubbock in 1997. An avid gardener, Bert was known for his beautiful yard which was typically adorned with an abundance of geraniums, petunias and marigolds. He loved the wide open skies of the Texas Panhandle and taught his children about clouds, the constellations and planets. He also instilled in them the desire to find the beauty in everything. Bert is survived by his children Eric Haiduk and wife Kay, and Connie Munguia and husband Oscar, all of White Deer, Texas; Karen Haiduk and husband Dan Anthony of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Kris Viers and husband Dennis of Pollack Pines, California; Katrina Adams and husband Michael of Arlington, Texas; Kala Sigler and husband Scott of Edmond, Oklahoma; Jon Haiduk and wife Andi of Overland Park, Kansas; and Barbara Vest of Lake City, Florida. His grandchildren include Lance and Brock Anderson, Alberic, Brendan and Therese Haiduk, Claire, Christian and Grace Sigler, Peyton, Hunter and Audrey Adams, Jordan and Dylan Haiduk, JD Vest, Susan Taylor, and Lisha Gogolin. His great-grandchildren are John Brock, Ellis, Fisher and Hayes Anderson, Janell Gonzalez, Jonathan and Jacob Vest, John Taylor, Summer Evachek, Marcella Mayo and Hannah Gogolin. Bert is also survived by his sister, Regina Hawkins, of Tallahassee, Florida. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, 4401 W. Memorial Road, Suite 143, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73134.
