Ralph Donald Baker

Ralph Donald Baker, 89, of Pampa passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Amarillo.

Memorial graveside services will be 3:00 PM Friday, April 2, 2021 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Ralph was born August 27, 1931 in Dallas to JG and Bell Baker. He graduated from Crozier Technical High School in Dallas in 1949. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy and he served in the Korean Conflict. Ralph recently was awarded "Ambassador For Peace" Award given by VFW Post 1657. He married Burma LaWanda Watson on September 14, 1951, she passed away on February 18, 2020. Ralph began his career with Cabot in 1970, transferring to many cities across the country even Ahwaz, Iran for a time, until 1978, when he moved to Pampa. Ralph retired in 1996 after 26 years of service. He was an accomplished private pilot, flying various aircrafts over the years which include sea planes, helicopters, jets, and a P51 Mustang. Ralph also was an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing at many courses across the country. He was a past member of the Pampa Country Club, Hidden Hills Golf Course, and was member of the Hidden Hills Senior Golf Association. Ralph was a good father and always provided for his family. He loved be Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Winona Etley; 2 brothers, Jay Baker and Edward Baker.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Melissa Nichols and husband Craig of Quinlan and Jessica Almanza of Amarillo; a son, Clifton Baker and wife Shelby of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a brother, Harvey Baker of Seagoville; 5 grandchildren, Christian Talley and husband Josh, Tawnee Williams, Meagan Moeder and husband Ryan, Courtney Baker, and Bo Williams; 4 great grandchildren, Athena Williams, Scarlett Talley, Logan Baker, and Lachlan Talley.
