Alvin "Pappy" Ray Adamson, Sr.

Alvin “Pappy” Ray Adamson, Sr., 71, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026 in Pampa.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at First Baptist Church with Micah Adamson, nephew, and Pastor Tim Clifton, associate pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo, officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 6:00-7:30 PM.

Ray was born September 4, 1955 in Pampa to Robbie “Bobbie” and Howard Adamson, Jr. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1974. After high school, Ray entered the workforce as a mechanic and later began a long career as a compressor mechanic. Over the next 40 years, he worked for various companies throughout the Pampa area. His last full-time employer was Waukesha-Pearce Industries. Following an accident, Ray was forced to retire from his career in 2018. Never one to sit still for long, he continued working various small jobs until officially retiring in 2025.

Shortly before graduating from high school, Ray earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment he remained extremely proud of throughout his life. He was also selected to become a member of the Order of the Arrow. Later in life, Ray was proud to be an Iron Rider and an active member of the Moose Lodge. Over the years, Ray held several offices within the Moose Lodge and was awarded Moose of the Year in 2015.

Ray was outgoing and had a way of making friends wherever he went. Dependable and generous, he never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need, never expecting anything in return. Ray loved people, and he loved them big. To know Ray was to love Ray. He enjoyed playing softball and also he umpired recreational softball for over 30 years, and met many friends along the way.

He was a cut-up who enjoyed making people laugh and was almost always wearing a smile. His easy-going personality, generous heart, and willingness to be there for others made him a friend to many. Ray lived life with joy, cared deeply for the people around him, and leaves behind countless friends and memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Howard Adamson Jr, Robbie “Bobbie” Rae Carter and his step-mother, Mattie Sue Adamson; granddaughter, Kenzee Bolin; son, Stephen Michael Adamson; and numerous other family members.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Lee Adamson of Canyon; two sons, Alvin Ray Adamson, Jr. and wife Kerrie and Jesse Thomas Conner all of Fort Worth; brother, Edward Thomas Adamson and wife Beverly of Fritch; grandchildren, K’Lee Lara and husband Xavier, Duke Bolin, and AnnieJo Bolin; two nephews, Micah Adamson and wife Rebecca of Borger and Dan Warner and wife Patsy of Lefors; niece, April Couch and husband Daryl of Stinnett; and numerous other family members.

Memorials can be sent to Brothers Keepers MC, Palo Duro Chapter 42 or Moose Lodge.
