Ann Louise Leibensberger Watson, 71, was born to Claude and Dorothy (Bozich) Leibensberger on September 7, 1954, in Dallas, Texas. She was their blonde, blue-eyed first baby girl. She passed away in Amarillo, Texas on April 9, 2026, surrounded by her family and close friends.
A celebration of life memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 29, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Traci Truly, officiating, and family friend, Pastor Garvin McCarrell, assisting. A private inurnment will be conducted beforehand at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Ann was raised in Irving, Texas and graduated from Nimitz High School in 1972. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from North Texas State University in 1976. She received her Master’s in Education from West Texas State University in 1985. Ann taught in public schools for over 40 years, and taught GED classes for six years. Ann was a member of the Las Pampas chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution from 2000 till 2026.
She taught elementary classes with the Irving and Greenville, Texas ISDs, with the remaining 36 years of her career serving Pampa ISD students. She continued to teach following her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. She was dedicated and passionate and would not stop teaching as long as it was fun. Ann was recognized as a Distinguished Educator by Lindsey Thompson in 2017.
She was an active member and elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Pampa. She served as clerk of session for many years and drafted the Order of Worship when she was unable to attend church due to her illness.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, John Watson; her brother, Claude Leibensberger (Deborah); sisters, Amy Leibensberger (Clint White), Jeanie Sanders (Bobby), and Gail Darden (Gary); along with her niece, Carly (Landon); nephew, Chase (Brittney); great nephew, Lincoln; and a great niece, Amelia Ann.
Several friends were particularly close to Ann during her illness and especially during her retirement among these great friends are Reyna Grajeda, Dot Dee Neil, Lee Ann Heard, Kathy Gomez, Diane Robinson, Betty Reams, Melody Fleming, Rick Hall (Al), and Jose and Rosa Cabrales.
A devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, she was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words. Her entire family expresses its sincerest appreciation and gratitude to all those in Pampa who loved Ann.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the charity of choice or to the Pampa Senior Citizens Center, 500 W. Francis Ave., Pampa, TX 79065.
