Annette Horton, 89, went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas.
Services for Annette will be 10:00 AM, Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Ron Noble of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Annette will be available for viewing from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, and 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
Annette Smith was born in Kellerville, Texas on May 1, 1937, to Lucy and James Noah Smith, one of eight children. She was raised in McLean, Texas and had many family and friends there. She excelled in basketball and was a cheerleader for the McLean Tigers. Annette married Robert Horton on July 13, 1955, in Clayton, NM. They raised a family of three children in Pampa, Texas.
They were members of Highland Pentecostal Holiness Church. They moved to Carrollton, Texas and lived there for many years. Annette worked for the Carrollton School District as a cafeteria baker and retired from there and moved back to Pampa for a slower pace of life.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her youngest son, Richard Craig Horton; three brothers, Vergal Smith, Raymond Smith, and Ronnie Smith; two sisters, Edith Smith and Vergie Ballad; and her lifelong friend, Dixie West, who passed recently.
She is survived by one brother, Don Lloyd Smith and wife Barbara of Amarillo; son, Terry Horton and wife Donna of Tyler; daughter, Bobbi Laurich and husband Martin of Amarillo; one grandson, Christopher Laurich of Lubbock, Texas; and two granddaughters, Terena Horton of Dallas, Texas and Jennifer Laurich of Amarillo, Texas; Annette left behind many nieces and nephews as well.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church at 1700 Alcock, Pampa, Texas 79065 or an animal shelter of your choice.
