Annie “Zip” Hall, 81, of Pampa, passed away on July 26, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

Celebration of life services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Norman Rushing, a retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. Zip’s service will be livestreamed though the funeral home’s website.

Zip will be available for viewing from 1:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, and 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday.

Zip was born on November 27, 1942, in Pampa to Roy M. and Elsie Mae Hall, and she and her family were long standing Gray County pioneers. She attended and graduated from school in Pampa in 1961. As a young lady, Zip was a girl scout, active in rodeo, sang in the acapella choir, a member of the Latin club, Kit Kat Club, and played volleyball. She also took dance lessons from Miss Jeannie Willingham, but being a cowgirl and competing in rodeo was the most important to her. Zip was a member of the Leather and Lace Riding Club, and during high school, she was voted the Most Typical Cowgirl at the Howdy Party.

Zip worked in various capacities in the communication industry. She had a long career with Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and later retired from NTS. After her retirement, she also spent some time as a substitute teacher. In addition to that, Zip was active in the community where she volunteered and served on the board for the Pampa Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and served as the secretary of the Zoning and Planning Commission.

She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church where she attended Sunday school and sang in the choir. Zip was very fond of her church and her former pastor, Norman Rushing. Zip had a sweet tooth at times, and she enjoyed eating chocolate chip cookies and drinking cokes. In her spare time, Zip liked working in her yard work and gardening.

Zip also loved to watch Little House on the Prairie, listening to worship music, and watching the Rodeo channel, particularly the barrel racing. Her favorite color was purple and just about everything she owned was purple. Although she loved purple, what she loved the most was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a feisty and funny woman who was always the comedian of the room. Zip will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Marcheta Wright formerly of Burleson, Texas.

She is survived by two daughters, Kelley Lovelace and husband Ken of Garland, and Whitney Morton and husband James of Pampa; three granddaughters, Tandi Hudson and husband Bryce of Pampa, Kelsey McMillan and husband Chance of Plainview, and Karly Lovelace of Garland; grandson, Austin Morton of Canyon; great-grandsons, Gavin Hudson of Lubbock, Jacob Morton of Amarillo, Baron Hudson and Brooks Morton, both of Pampa, Grayson McMillan, Cameron McMillan, and Lane McMillan, all of Plainview; great-granddaughters, Ellie Morton of Pampa, Londyn Hudson of Amarillo; a great-great granddaughter on the way, Lyla Mae Morton; special cousin, Kay Lard of Mesa, Arizona; and by her special cats, Chloe, Snow, and Monster Monster.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt appreciation to Interim Hospice for all their loving care for Zip, also known as Sunshine, Queen Bee, and Zippy.

The family welcomes everyone to wear something purple to honor Zip!
