Arlene M. Hooper, 88, of Tacoma, WA passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 in University Place, WA.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Gorman, Texas, with Kelly Kunkel, pastor of First Baptist Church of Gorman, officiating. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
Arlene will be available for viewing on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 8:00 AM- 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hooper was born on September 13, 1932 in Broomfield, Colorado. Her family moved to Gorman, Texas (in Eastland County) the following year where her family farmed for 50 years.
She married George Bruce Hooper on June 7th, 1951. They moved to Pampa, Texas in 1965 where Arlene worked at Marie Foundations, in banking, and as a salesclerk for Walmart. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Pampa. In 2012 she moved to Tacoma, WA to be near her son, Jimmy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bruce Hooper; her parents, QD and Viola Fuller; her brothers, Claude, Milford, and Russell Fuller; two sisters, Maxine Dennis and Lorene Eldridge; a son, Stephen Miles Hooper; and by a grandson, James Hooper.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy D Hooper and wife Francine of Tacoma, WA; a daughter, Velia A Hooper and husband Mike of Louisville, MS; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and other extended family.
