Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026, at First Methodist Church of Pampa with Rev. Jarrod Neal, pastor, officiating. Burial will be 3:00 PM at the May Cemetery in Ellis County, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 6:00-7:30 PM.

She was born on October 23, 1939, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Everett and Telitha Jones.

Known for her quick wit, gracious heart, and warm spirit, Berdena left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived most of her life in Pampa, where she built a life defined by kindness, generosity, faith, and devotion to her family and community.

She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1958 as salutatorian and attended Enid Business College in 1959. Berdena went on to build a long and respected career in the insurance industry. She was known for her wisdom, dedication, and willingness to help others, becoming not only a valued colleague but also a mentor and friend to many.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Berdena was a devoted member of First Methodist Church of Pampa for more than 60 years. She faithfully gave her time and talents to the church and its many activities. Her desire to serve others also led her to volunteer with Good Samaritan Christian Services and the Pampa Opti-Mrs. for over 20 years.

She and James were high school sweethearts, together for 70 years and blessed with 68 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was the epitome of true love - a beautiful journey filled with laughter, friendship, devotion, and countless cherished memories.

Berdena’s enthusiasm for life was evident in the many things she loved. A devoted University of Oklahoma fan, she and James held OU football season tickets for more than 50 years. She also spent many years cheering from the stands at Pampa Harvester football and basketball games. She and James enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with friends, sharing many evenings of laughter and fellowship. Her grandchildren’s sporting events were especially meaningful to her, and she was proudly their biggest cheerleader.

Berdena had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She had a warmth that drew people in and a generosity for others that came naturally. Berdena’s legacy is found in the family she loved so dearly the friendships she nurtured, the faith she lived, and the many lives she touched through her years of service and kindness.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Angie Martin (Gary) and Todd Richardson (Yvonne); grandchildren: Payton Baird-Martin, Jake Richardson (Taylor), Will Richardson, and Kristen Stoner (Riley); and two great-grandchildren: Teddy and Poppy Richardson. She also cherished her favorite sister, Barbara Snell, and the close relationship with her family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Maria Copado, Leti Salazar Blanco, Sara Hernandez, Carolina Sanchez, and Romelia Leal for their dedication, love, and compassion as caretakers. They also express their sincere appreciation to Analee and the entire staff at ExcelaCare Hospice for the kindness, comfort, and support they provided during Berdena’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to First Methodist Church of Pampa or Good Samaritan Christian Services.
