Betty J. Mills Hanson Sauls, 84, of Pampa, passed away, March 17, 2021 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Jimmye Cole, a retired Nazarene minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Her service will be live streamed through the funeral home website.
Betty was born on May 12, 1936 in Pampa to Edith and Samuel Mills. She grew up and attended school in Pampa. Shortly after high school, she married her first husband, Bruce Hanson and they started their family- having three children. They did go separate ways but remained friends. She married Hubert Sauls in 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1998. In 2004, she and Bruce reconnected and became companions until he preceded her in death in 2015. Betty lived most of her life in Pampa but shared time in Garden City, TX, Big Spring, TX, and Midland, TX.
Betty worked in the grocery business for over 20 years at both Gibson’s in Big Spring & Pampa but mostly at Frank’s Foods. She attended church from time to time First Church of the Nazarene. Betty loved the outdoors! She enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. She loved watching the Texas rangers and watched every game on TV. Betty attended opening ceremonies in 2017 and had the time of her life! But what was the most important thing was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sisters, Pauline Gattis and Mildred Dilts; two brothers, Dale Mills and Robert Bowman; two grandsons, Lester Hanson, Jr., and Martin Hanson; and one great-granddaughter, Brianna Hanson
Her survivors include a daughter, Debbie Murray and husband Harold of Pampa; two sons, Lester Hanson and wife Adelina of Midland, and Donald Hanson and wife Wanda of Garden City, TX; four granddaughters, Amanda Dietz and husband Shane of Melrose, NM, Sherry Mallory and husband Anthony of Norfolk, NE, and Macy Cochran of Pampa, and Brandy Bruce of Mitchell, SD; five grandsons, Josh Hanson and wife Yolanda of Tierra Alta, WV, Steven Hanson and wife Casey of Boyd, Michael Cochran and wife April of Amarillo, Tanner Cochran and wife Kristin of Pampa, and William Barden of Lubbock; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
