Pampa

Bobby McPherson, 82, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Pampa, with family by his side.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Bobby was born on August 21, 1940, in Kellerville, Texas, to Ollie and Vesta McPherson. He grew up and attended school through the 8th grade in Kellerville and attended Shamrock High School, where he played for their basketball and football teams. Bobby graduated high school in 1958 and soon after, joined the Army. While serving a tour in Germany, he was a part of a barbershop quartet. He met and married Margie while stationed in Germany as well, and the two were married for 49 years.

Bobby worked for Mason & Dixon Lines trucking for most of his career, working his way up to the position of load dispatcher. Eventually he bought his own truck and operated his personal trucking company for a few years. Bobby was also an avid photographer. Throughout his lifetime, he took millions of pictures, and was even an official photographer of the Blue Angels in Pensacola, Florida. He enjoyed going to the lake with his family to ski and tube and liked to watch the Tennessee Vols and Dallas Cowboys football teams as often as possible. When the weather was nice, he would drive his Mercedes-Benz around town with the top down and take his friends and family for joyrides. Bobby had a unique sense of humor, and he will be missed by so many.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Duane McPherson; and son-in-law, Rodney Shelton.

He is survived by his four children, Cathy Shelton, Steve McPherson and wife Fay, Connie Dickey and husband David, and Scott McPherson and wife Kelly; nine grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Josh, Abby, Ellie, Amy, Emily, Noah, and Paxton; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Maysie Conner; two nieces, Jeannie Lucas and Becky Conner Thomas; two nephews, Bob Conner and John Conner; and several other extended family members.
