Brenda Gail Steddum Lee, 67, a resident of Lake Charles, LA, passed from this life on September 12, 2026, in the comfort of her home.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 27, 2026 in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jim Sinyard, pastor of Carpenter’s Church, officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Brenda was born on March 20, 1959, in Pampa, Texas, to Wayne and Rita Steddum. Brenda will forever be remembered as a loving mother, mimi, aunt, and sister with a heart of gold who never turned anyone away. She was not only a mother to her own children but to all children, imparting upon them love, guidance, and wisdom. Brenda was a loyal and devoted friend. She had a strong, quiet faith that she held dear to her heart.
Brenda worked as a case worker with Department of Human Services for 18 years leaving in the mid 2000’s. She was most recently employed by Southern Janicorp as their office manager. In her spare time, Brenda expressed her artistic side through painting and loved animals of all types, including her former dog, Kitty, and her raccoon, Raylynn.
Brenda is preceded in death by her son, Jerrod Carruth on July 22, 2019; her parents, Wayne and Rita Steddum; and a niece, Renetta Stover.
Brenda is survived by her son, Gage Carruth, and his wife, Teddi; her five grandchildren, Jace Carruth, McKenna Carruth, Phoenix Carruth, Jaylee Torres, and Zavier Torres; her sister, Nita Stover, and her husband, Robert; and their children, Kimberly Stover and Kathy Holly; her best friend, Jeff Maddox, and host of dear friends she made along life’s journey.
