Candy Renee Branscum, 52, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Jim Sinyard, pastor at Carpenter’s Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the funeral home.
Candy was born on November 30, 1973 in Clear Lake, Texas to Jim and Sharron Mayfield Stanley. She was raised in Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1992. Candy married the love of her life, J.C. Branscum, Jr., on July 16, 1992. They spent many happy years together and were proud parents to their daughter, Chrissy. In 2007, Candy obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University. She worked as the administrator at the McLean Care Center and later the Georgia Manor Nursing Home for many years. Candy left a legacy of outstanding care that continues to this day.
Candy lit up any room she was in and was the life of every party. She was independent and strong-willed, two traits that she instilled in Chrissy. Candy loved singing whether it was at church or doing karaoke with her friends. She was kind-hearted and generous, welcoming every one of Chrissy’s friends into her home with open arms and a full plate of food. However, Candy’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, who affectionally called her “CanMa”. She had a larger-than-life personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Candy was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, J.C. Branscum, Jr.; her parents, Jim and Sharron Stanley; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hattie and J.C. Branscum, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Donna Fitzer.
Candy is survived by her daughter, Chrissy Branscum and fiancé Trent Dailing of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Nolan Covey and Juleon Dailing both of Amarillo; three sisters, Angela Berryhill and husband Doc of Bridgeport, Sheri Alderson and husband Ronny of Amarillo, and Barbie Pacheco and husband Randy of Gatesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the American Foundation for the Blind, 1108 Third Avenue, Suite 200 Huntington, West Virgina, 25701.
