Carolyn Sue “Granny” Hadley passed away September 10, 2025, on her 79th birthday in Duncan, OK.

There will be a visitation at Bailes-Polk Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor James Mitchell of the Harvest Community Church of Marlow, Oklahoma, officiating. A burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Pampa. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Carolyn Sue Hadley, "Granny", was born on September 10, 1946, to LeRoy and Clara Belle "Susie" Woodward in Shidler, OK. She was the 3rd of 5 children. Carolyn started school in Burkburnett, Texas before moving to Skellytown, Texas, attending Skellytown Elementary and graduating from White Deer High School in 1965. She married Larry Marlar in 1965. Together they had 3 children before Larry preceded her in death on September 16, 1973.

Being a single mom, Carolyn worked hard to provide for her 3 kids, making sure they always had all they needed, especially her time, rarely, if ever, missing a game, band concert, classroom party, or event. She had a love of music and a beautiful voice with a special ear for harmony. Music was such a big part of her home.

Carolyn was one of the first women roustabouts working in the Texas oilfield for Getty Oil Company. She made sure she pulled her own weight in what was, at that time, a man's world.

Carolyn married Donald Hadley on September 16, 1979. They had 31 years of love and laughter before he preceded her in death on November 6, 2010. Although they spent the first years of their life together in Skellytown, they moved to Amarillo, Pampa, and then Duncan, Oklahoma. After Don's passing, she stayed busy at the Senior Citizen's Center playing a mean game of 42, which she only played for fun, but never to win. No one believed that… EVER.

Carolyn was a loving person, having lifelong friends from elementary and high school. She gained many more friendships for life in Duncan. She loved reading, always having a book going. When she learned to crochet, she made many afghans and scarves to give away to keep her hands moving. She was diagnosed at age 16 with Rheumatoid Arthritis, but never let the disease define who she was, striving for a positive attitude with little complaint.

Her family was most important to her, from the special relationships with her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins, to the devotion she had as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Carolyn was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Susie, and R.S. (Whitey) Marlar; brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Marjorie Woodward; son, Westley Glenn Marlar; daughter-in-law, Joyce Hadley; and two grandsons, Lance Hadley and Jerry Howard.

She is survived by a daughter & husband, Lori & Danny McCann of Duncan, OK; three sons & wives, Jason & Janey Marlar of White Deer, TX, Larry Hadley, Ronnie & Renel Hadley, all of Amarillo, TX, and daughter-in-law, Josie Marlar of Lubbock, TX; sisters & brothers-in-law, Jo & Harvey Rochelle of Pampa, TX, Connie Baker of Amarillo, TX, and Billie & Dickie Lovinggood of Midwest City, OK. Carolyn was so proud of her grandchildren, Tosha (Todd) Davis, Jordan (Amanda) Marlar, Kelsey (Terance) Ellis, and Zach (Kelsey) Marlar, and Larri Golleher, Kade Golleher, Dagan McCann, Caleb McCann, Zach Shaw, and Gunner Marlar, and Tish Hadley, Hunter Hadley, and Rob (Juliana) Hadley, and Rick Howard. She was sure her great-grandchildren were the best, Samantha Davis & Sidney Davis, Gemma Reber & Westley Jack Ellis, Landen Allen & Andi Marlar, Samuel Hadley, and Chloe Howard.

The family would like to express special gratitude to her Immanuel Baptist Church Sunday School Class friends, the staff and residents of Ashbrook Village, Chisholm Trail Hospice, and the DRH Wound Clinic nursing staff for all of the love and care they gave her.
