Cayson Eddie Evans, age 92, of Pampa, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with his loving family by his side.
Per his request, there will be no service. Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory of Pampa, Texas.
Cayson was born on December 13, 1932 in Bonham, Texas to Peter Elrod Evans and Birdie Mozelle Evans. After graduating from Shamrock High School in 1951, Cayson proudly served in the Korean War from 1953-1955. Upon returning to Pampa, he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Bird, and they were married on April 3, 1957, and celebrated 67 years of joyful union. They had three children: Susan Eleanor, Cayson Eddie Jr. and Peter Cayson.
Cayson was a renaissance man, using his many talents to not only support his family, but to support his community as well. You would see him as the appliance repairman and electrician by day; Webelo leader or Little League and/or softball coach by evening. He was a lifelong learner, and he worked tirelessly to make sure his children got a college education. He was always willing to share his knowledge with others. He was a masterful teacher and mentor to those who knew and worked with him. He became a master electrician and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He opened his own business, Casey Service, and his proud business slogan was “Don’t cuss, call us! We’ll cuss for you”.
For Cayson, family was always his number one priority. He was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. Yearly vacations and holidays all revolved around family. It was during those times that Cayson shared his love for water skiing, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and pen turning with his children, grandchildren, extended family, and anyone else who wanted to give it a try.
Cayson is preceded in death by his parents, son Cayson Eddie Jr., brothers Freddie Evans, Teddie Evans, Charles Evans, and sister Mary Ann Boyd.
Cayson is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; daughter, Susan Evans Metcalfe and husband James of Oklahoma City, Ok.; son, Peter Cayson Evans and wife Dawn of Frisco, Tx.; grandchildren, James Daniel Metcalfe and wife Ashley, Mary Katherine Metcalfe, Brady Cayson Evans; and great grandchildren, Aiden and Bryson.
