Charles M. Gurley, 81, of Pampa, passed away, Thursday, November 19, 2020 in Pampa.

Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. The service will be live streamed  at www.carmichael-whatley.com

At the family’s request, masks are required for Charles’ service.

Charles will be available for viewing from 12:00 PM- 8:00 PM, Friday, November 20, 2020 at the funeral home.

Charles was born on December 15, 1938 in Leonard, Texas to Ella and Maurice Gurley. As a young boy his family moved to Pampa where he attended school and resided ever since. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. After his discharge he returned to Pampa. Charles worked for several years at Cabot R&D and later went to work for Celanese, retiring with many years of service. Charles greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycle and ATV with his family in the mountains at Red River, Cuchara, and here at Lake McClellan. Charles was a kind man who was always eager to help his neighbors. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a son, David Gurley; a stepdaughter, Cathy Reiswig; a granddaughter, Charly Gale Gurley; and two sisters, Pat Young and Frances Stamps

Survivors include his son, Michael Gurley and wife Bea of Mabank; a daughter, Shannon Waitman and husband Bryan of Amarillo; three granddaughters, Rachel Strange and husband Nathan of Mabank, Alyssa Waitman and Camryn Waitman, both of Amarillo; and a great-grandson, Wade Strange of Mabank; good friend, Jeanene Seaton of Pampa; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Memorial Processing 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38106.
