Charles Everett Moran

December 26, 1945 — January 11, 2026

Pampa, Texas

Charles Everett Moran, 80, of Pampa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at his home in Pampa.

A celebration of life service will be held in late April. Details will be given closer to time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Charles was born December 26, 1945 in Dallas to Cecil and Helen Moran. He graduated from a trade high school in the Dallas area in 1964. On October 8, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Marie Godwin. Together, they have celebrated over 60 years of marriage. Soon after they were married, Charles served in US Army and was honorably discharged in 1967.

In the 1970’s, Charles pastored his first church in Pampa. He served over 25 years as pastor of several Foursquare Churches including Wichita Falls for 9 years. Charles and Joyce also served as camp directors for 4 years at Camp Whispering Oaks at Buffalo Gap, Texas. During his time pastoring, he was able to help build and construct several churches. Eventually he had the opportunity to move out to San Dimas, California to help build and oversee the construction of one of dormitories at Life Pacific University. He remained on staff for 6 years. In 1997, Charles and Joyce moved back to Pampa.

Charles was a longtime member of Briarwood Church. He served the Lord faithfully. Even though he was not behind a pulpit any longer, he still shared God’s word and his love. Charles enjoyed old classic cars, model trains, and woodworking. He was a true craftsman. He also enjoyed doing ancestral research, photography, and videography. They loved to travel and take the family on vacation, if his health would have allowed it, they would have been full time “RVers.” His role as PaPa was his greatest joy, he loved to spend time and spoil his grandchildren as much as he could.

Charles was a great storyteller and had a fun sense of humor. He was the king of “dad jokes.” His smile and kind heart made him the perfect “Santa” in the late 1990’s. Together, he and Joyce enjoyed bringing smiles to children during Christmas being Mr. and Mrs. Clause. Charles was also an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, even during their losing years. He was one of the electricians that wired their professional building and had the opportunity to meet many of the players and coaches during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Larry Wayne Moran, James Edward Moran, Carol Henry Moran, and Billy Joe Moran; also, two grandchildren, Noah Anderson and Michael Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Camille Dawn Moran of Pampa, Shelly Carol Johnson and husband Tim of Tyler, and Angela Marie Anderson and husband Eric of Pampa; five grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Johnson of Kalispell, Montana, Isaac David Johnson and wife Amber of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Elijah Paul Johnson and fiancée Emmalee Dayl of Tyler, Annelea Noel Faith Anderson and fiancé Daniel Garvin of Pampa, and Isaiah Noah Michael Anderson of Pampa; one great grandchild due in the late summer; and two sisters, Margaret Ann Drummond of Longview and Bonnie Ruth Bennett of DFW area.
