Charlie Snider, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor at Central Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. Visitation will be held at Suzette's house, 7101 Canterbury Pl, Amarillo, Texas, 79109 on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Charlie was born on February 21, 1940 in East Prairie, Missouri to Clyde and Inez Paslay Snider. He attended school in Perryton and Pampa during his childhood. Charlie was a graduate of Pampa High School in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue Cockrell, on August 31, 1958 in Pampa. Charlie worked in construction, building houses for several years until he opened Charlie's Furniture and Carpet in 1969. He moved the business to Amarillo in 1989. He successfully ran the business for 50 years. During his free time Charlie enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was member of Hillside Terrace Church in Amarillo.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; an infant child; four brothers, Gary Snider, Gene Snider, Bill Snider, and Jim Snider; and one sister, Linda Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Snider, of the home; two children, Rod Snider and wife Lynn of Groesbeck and Suzette Dorris of Amarillo; three siblings, Jewell Snider and wife Beverly, Tom Snider, and Betty Tuck and husband Bill; five grandchildren, Lexie Dorris, Megan Dorris, Koury Snider, Charis Snider, and Kaden Snider; and five great-grandchildren.
