Cleo Goff

Cleo Goff, 93, passed away on September 1, 2025, at home in Pampa.

A private family graveside will be held for Cleo at Memory Gardens Cemetery. His burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Cleo was an amazing dad, grandpa, and daddad. Living his best life was loving the Lord and his family more than his own life. He was born at home in Billings, Oklahoma, to Chester Goff and Anna Goff on May 22, 1932. Accepting Jesus as his Savior, he was baptized at Antelope Valley Church of the Brethren. His education was in a one room schoolhouse until high school when he transferred to Garber High School.

In 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy and was on the USS Cabildo in damage control during the North Korean Conflict. His family heard many interesting stories and received beautiful gifts from all over the South Pacific. Welding was a skill he learned in the Navy and eventually went to welding school after marrying and moving to Pampa, Texas. He went to work for Cabot Corporation where he built a variety of things related to oil field, farming, and transport trucks.

In Antelope Valley, he married Donna Galyon on November 23, 1952. He eventually left the Cabot Shops and worked for the gas and oil division. Later, he worked on gas meters for Dale Ann Greenhouse. Through work, he made many life-long friends. Cleo was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Pampa. He served as youth leader, morning opening leader, and on several committees. His appreciation of music and singing certainly came from his heart!

Loving to serve, he became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He held bicycle reflector events and Poppy Sales. Desiring to help people, he repaired and loaned people crutches, wheelchairs, and walkers. Christmas was a time he would repair and fix up toys to deliver with food packages to people who might not otherwise have anything. Using a 16 mm projector, he would show Korean War films at the old Pampa Junior High Auditorium for anyone who would come. He is very patriotic; in that, he ordered books of the constitution and other patriotic themes for the elementary schools. Being a member was close to his heart.

In life, he was a great family man and neighbor. Known for his barbecue and homemade icecream, the neighborhood loved him. Cleo enjoyed water skiing. Attending all of his grandkids and great grandkids activities was a highlight of his life. Even in his eighties he attended cross country, basketball, football, track, band, soccer, and theatre events. He always had a pocket full of bubblegum and a big hug for everyone. He mowed neighbors yards and blew snow off driveways to help out. One of his favorite things to do was to sit on his front porch swing, visit, and watch a little basketball game. Memories that I am sure we will all always cherish!

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean Goff.

Those who loved him and will carry on his legacy are his daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Frank Belcher from Canadian, Texas; granddaughter and spouse, Angela and Aaron Black from Canadian, Texas; grandson and

spouse, Jay and Amy Belcher from Amarillo, Texas; great-granddaughter and spouse, Abigail and Brian Broadbent from Ft. Worth, Texas; and great-granddaughter Arionna Black; great-grandsons include Lachlan Belcher and Aidan Belcher.
