Zane was born July 27, 1953, in San Diego, California to Coy and Betty Werley. He was a proud Pampa High School graduate in the class of 1972. Zane enjoyed his high school years driving the drag, spending time taking his sister to Caldwell’s, and going to Tom’s Country Inn with family. After high school, Zane worked several small jobs before setting his eyes on his career. He worked for over 20 years at Phillips Petroleum as a Mechanic, retiring in 1995.
Zane had a desire to continue learning; he was able to earn his associate degree in AutoCAD and also an associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from Amarillo College. He went to work for Northwest Texas Hospital as a Respiratory Therapist and worked until his retirement in 2018.
Zane was an adventurous person who always enjoyed a good time. When he was younger, he spent a lot of time bowling and shooting pool. He also spent every weekend he could at the lake. They would start at Lake McClelland and end up at Lake Greenbelt. It was a time he spent with his family and friends making memories. Zane was old school and loved to listen to old rock and roll; especially ZZ Top. If you knew Zane very well, you knew he was a storyteller, joke teller, and just all around ornery. He lived life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sister, Valorie Duncan and husband John of Pampa; nephew, Brock Duncan of Pampa; niece, Zaileigh Duncan of Pampa; uncle, James Garland Werley and his wife Darlene of Knoxville, Tennessee; and numerous cousins and extended family.
