Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Bridges, 67, of Pampa, passed away on January 17, 2026, at her home in Pampa.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Eric Newcomb, a member of the family, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Debbie was born on May 27, 1958, in Albany, Georgia, to Hershell and Leta Herring. The family would move to Pampa when Debbie was a young girl, and she would attend and graduate from Pampa schools. After High School Debbie met the love of her life, Johnny Bridges, and the two were married on April 1, 1978. Together they had two sons, Phillip and Dewayne Bridges.
As a young woman, Debbie found her true passion in life to be nursing and she obtained her LVN license from Frank Phillips College, she went on to Amarillo College and became a licensed RN. She worked at Pampa Regional Medical Center for several years before going to work at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo where she worked for six years. After leaving Northwest, Debbie came back to work for Pampa Regional Medical Center up until she passed away.
Even when Debbie was not working, she was always doing something, whether it was taking care of her many animals, gardening, or taking care of her family. She also loved the outdoors and especially fishing, the family spent a lot of time together at Lake Vincent, Lake Foss, and Fort Cobb. Debbie is best remembered for her passion and willingness to take care of others, her cool, calm, and collected nature, and the stability and peace that she brought to her family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her two sons; a brother, Frank Herring; and a nephew, Dustin Huggins.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Bridges; a granddaughter, Alexis Bridges and Erick Martinez; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Recinos; a grandson, Michael “Shane” Bridges; a brother, Vernon “Opey” Herring and wife Pamela; a sister, Judy Huggins and husband Jimmie; two nieces, Myranda Newcomb and husband Eric, and Erin Hale and husband Nick; as well as many more nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donation in Debbie’s memory be made to Pampa Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 2095, Pampa, TX, 79066.
