J. D. and Delphia Grider

Delphia Grider always said that she did not want to live a day without her husband J. D. Grider.  J. D. always said he wanted to live one day longer than Delphia.  Delphia Grider passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, and J. D. Grider passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020, both fulfilling their wishes.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 23, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor at Central Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Delphia Grider was born April 14, 1936 in Osage, Arkansas to William and Eartha McMillion.  She moved to Guymon in 1958.  She loved cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

J. D. Grider was born on May 31, 1937 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Dave and Effie Grider. He graduated from Guymon High School and received an associate degree from Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. J. D. loved playing golf, watching the Oklahoma Sooners play football and spending time with his family.

Delphia and J. D. were married September 3, 1960 in Clayton, New Mexico.  They moved to Pampa in 1968.  Delphia was a homemaker and J. D. worked as a Drilling Fluid Engineer for many companies in the Panhandle.  J. D. retired in 2012 from Champion Drilling Fluids.  They were members at Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Carroll of Collierville, Tennessee and Debbie Pruett of Amarillo; one son, Ron Wheeler of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Patrick Wheeler of Amarillo, Shane Helms and wife Amber of League City, Heather Nickleberry and husband Courtney of Amarillo, and James Ryan Carroll of Memphis, Tennessee; seven great-grandchildren, Shayli, Ethan, Kris, Mason James, Cambree, Cambron, Courtnee Cheree; and nine great great-grandchildren;  Delphia is also survived by a sister Juanita Henderson; and J. D. is survived by four sisters, Margie Patrick, Ruby Wilhite, Faye Vavra, and Gracie McClendon; and a brother George Grider and wife Marilyn.
