The family will receive friends from 6 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Derrel was born on March 17, 1936, in Pampa to John R and Julia Davis. He grew up and graduated from school in Pampa. In high school, he would meet the love of his life, Judy Hancock and they married on October 31, 1958. They shared almost 66 years and raised three children before her passing in 2024. Derrel also served his country in the United States National Guard.
Derrel was employed in a few different industries that included working for Gray County in road maintenance, helping with agriculture equipment for International Harvester, and later at Celanese, where he served 25 years and retired as a shift supervisor. In his younger days, Derrel had a roping arena on the farm where he and the neighbors would participate in team roping. He also liked to farm when living in the country and when he moved within the city limits, he enjoyed working in his garden and making sure his yard was perfect.
The most important thing to Derrel was his family, but he had a special place in his heart for his grandkids, great grandkids and always looking forward to each new addition to the family. He was also a thoughtful, generous, and caring man who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Derrel will be remembered as a considerate man who could always be depended on whenever you were in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; granddaughter, Nikki Guenther; and by six siblings, Clara, Velma, Thelma, Jerry, Dale, and Rodney; and a sister-in-law, Jeri
Derrel is survived by two daughters, Dennel Davis and husband Clifford of Clearwater, Kansas, and Leslie Huddle and husband James of Pampa; son, Duane Davis and wife Darla of Canyon; granddaughters, Amanda Germann and husband Brad, Tara Stavenhagen and husband Chris Goodwin, and Savannah Peace and husband Brady; grandsons, Nathan Davis and wife Kasie, Ricky Davis and wife Taylor and Clint Woods; 12 greatgrandchildren, Brylee, Austyn, Paityn, Slayton, Zach, Jace, Stetson, Bo, McCoy, Riley, Braelyn, and Revvin (Vroom); sister-in-law, LaHoma Davis of Pampa; and other extended family members.
