Don Knutson

October 22, 1933 — April 16, 2021

Don Knutson, 87, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at home.

Services will be 12:00 PM Monday, April 19, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Zack McCoy, grandson and pastor at Redemption Church in Houston, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Knutson was born October 22, 1933 at "The Old Place" in Wheeler County, to Lonnie and Eva Knutson. Don was baptized at the age of eight at Sandspur Lake and was a 1951 Graduate of McLean High School. He married Jo Ann Guthrie on August 29, 1952 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2017. Don was a self-employed masonry contractor and after his retirement he started his cattle business. He loved being on the land, tending to his herd. He was an umpire and a coach at the optimist club for many years. Don was a member of the Pampa Bass Masters and the Sunday Morning Domino Group. He owned racehorses and loved spending time at the lake house, on Sandspur Lake, with Jo Ann, making his life a full circle. Don was immensely proud of his children and always lit up when the grandchildren came around.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harley Knutson.

Survivors include a son, Larry Knutson and wife Carmen of Pampa, three daughters, LaDona McCoy and husband Roger of Houston, Laurie Knutson of Pearland, and Lynn Snider and husband Rod of Groesbeck; a brother, Wendell Knutson and wife Edie of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
