Donna Lajean Quarles Crawford

Donna Lajean Quarles Crawford, age 63, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 17, 2026 in Wheeler with her loving family by her side.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2026 at Hobart Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Mobeetie Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 6:00-7:30pm.

Donna was born on March 25, 1963, in Pampa, Texas, to Winfred Don and Mary M. Quarles. She was raised in the Mobeetie and Wheeler County area, where she developed a lifelong love for her family, community, agriculture, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Donna was a member of Wheeler County 4-H and Mobeetie FFA, serving in various offices and showing livestock through both organizations. She was a Wheeler County Gold Star recipient and a member of the Mobeetie Methodist Church. She graduated from Mobeetie High School in 1981, where she was a proud member of the 1981 Mobeetie Hornets District Championship basketball team and was selected to the All-District basketball team.

On June 19, 1982, Donna married Kevin Crawford in Mobeetie. Together, they had two daughters, Courtney Crawford and Meagan Crawford, who became the center of Donna's world.

In 1981, Donna began working at Citizens Bank, now known as First Bank Southwest, in the bookkeeping department. Over the next 41 years, she built a successful career and retired in 2022 as an Assistant Vice President.

Donna devoted many years of service to the livestock community. She served as secretary and treasurer for both the Gray County 4-H Livestock Show Board and the Top O' Texas Livestock Show Association for more than 10 years. She was recognized as a 4-H Outstanding Leader at both the county and district levels and served as an organizer for the 4-H beef project - the first of its kind in Texas.

Donna and Kevin eventually formed K&D Cattle, where they raised commercial cattle. Donna later joined her nephew Kellan in starting MT Cattle, raising show cattle. They proudly used Papa Murel Trout's MT brand as the beginning of their company.

Family was at the center of Donna's life. When it came to her girls, she was always in the stands, on the road, or wherever she needed to be. She followed her daughters across the country for basketball, volleyball, 4-H events, and livestock shows. She supported her nieces and nephews in the same way, always treating them as her own and was a driving force behind many of the 4-H accomplishments of the children in her family.

Donna loved to travel with her friends and family. She, Kevin, and their girls traveled to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, and destinations throughout the United States, in addition to enjoying many cruises. She also went on many road trips with her sister, Shonda, calling themselves the “Road Warriors”. Donna was never afraid of a long trip, a lot of miles, or an adventure with the people she loved. She also treasured time spent at the family cabin in Angel Fire.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Mary M. Quarles; brother, Kelley Quarles; grandparents, Win and Claudia Quarles and Murel and Margaret Trout; and father-in-law, Kenneth Crawford.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Kevin Crawford, of the home; daughters, Courtney Crawford and Meagan Crawford and fiancé, Ryan Terry; father, Winfred Don Quarles; sister, Shonda Rucker; mother-in-law, Betty Crawford; brother-in-law, Neal Crawford; niece, Cassie Hamilton; nephews, Kelby Rucker, Kellan Quarles and wife Emily, and Kelton Quarles; aunt, Paula Shahan; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and many loving members of the Robison family.

Donna was blessed with lifelong friendships that remained a source of love and strength throughout her life. She leaves behind a special group of friends who stood by her through every season, including her lifelong friend, Shannon Batton Morguette, who never left her side during the last few days; Jeri Joiner, who accompanied Donna to every doctor's appointment during the last three years; as well as Marsha Poole, Lisa Hamlin, and Kim Hill. Their friendship, love, and support meant more to Donna and her family than words can express.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Parkview Hospital staff for the loving care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Donna and her family. Their dedication and gentle care will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
