Dorothy Murphy Roth Guinn, 87, of Pampa, entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Dorothy was born on March 29, 1939 in Runnels County Texas to Arthur Kay Murphy and Vera Downing Murphy. She was raised in the Abilene area until the family settled in Miami in 1955. She married Dale Richard Roth in 1956 and then finished her high school education in Canadian. After graduation, Dorothy became a stay-at-home mother, painter, and loving support system for her young family. Once her children were older she went to work for White’s Automotive and then took a position as an accountant and office manager for Serfco.
In 1988 Dorothy moved to Arizona where she worked for ABRC and helped her daughter raise three amazing granddaughters. From here, as a strong willed and independent woman she went on several adventures not the least of which was her accomplishment of hiking the Grand Canyon from the Rim to the Floor! She married the love of her life, Jerry H. Guinn, on June 3, 2000. They spent 20 amazing years of love and laughter together until Jerry’s passing in 2020. Dorothy and Jerry enjoyed traveling together; whether on a scenic drive to Branson,Galveston, and San Antonino or flying all the way to Israel. They spent time at home refinishing pianos, taking photos, tending to Jerry’s plants, and spoiling their children and grandchildren with affection.
Dorothy was a devoted member of the Central Baptist Church and an active member of their senior sunday school class. She found purpose in serving her community and her Lord. Dorothy is remembered as a supportive listener who welcomed all her loved ones with open arms. She spent her life just enjoying where she was in every moment. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Jerry H. Guinn; her parents, Arthur and Vera Murphy; one brother, James Murphy; and one sister, Helen Murphy.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Ramirez of Kirkland, Arizona and Glen Roth and wife Phyllis of Socorro, New Mexico; one stepdaughter, Kari Parker and husband Mike of Houston; one brother, Deverl “Murph” Murphy of Pampa; one sister, Marilyn Martin and husband Jim of Rapid City, South Dakota; 12 grandchildren, Cody Parker, Tyler Parker, Shane Williams, Seth Williams, Amy West and husband Josiah, Erin Ramirez and husband Anthony Cruz, Breanna McGowen and husband David, Bevin Henson, Mariah Henson, Scott Ashcroft, Erin Floyd, and Tammi Norwood; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends.
