Dorothy Kennemer

December 22, 1926 — September 30, 2021

Dorothy Kennemer, 94, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Pampa.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Paul Hudson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Dorothy was born on December 22, 1926, in Waurika, Oklahoma to Thomas and Aurilla Bigham. When Dorothy was sixteen, her family moved to Pampa. She attended high school in Pampa, graduating in 1944. Soon after she graduated, Dorothy began her long career as an operator for Southwestern Bell.

On March 15, 1947, Dorothy married the love of her life, James Kennemer. The two of them enjoyed a long marriage together until he preceded her in death in 2002. Some of the activities they did together included riding motorcycles, camping, and spending time with grandkids. They were both long-time members of Central Baptist Church. In 1986 she retired, which gave her even more time to do the things she loved. She was a caretaker and would do anything for her friends and family.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; daughter, Sandra Harvey; son-in-law, David Harvey; granddaughter, Amy Harvey; 3 sisters, Jo Glover, Joy Huckins, and Tommie Livingston; and 2 brothers, Claude Bigham and Troy York.

She is survived by her grandson, Jamie Harvey of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 2 great-grandsons, Russell Harvey and Logan Harvey, both of Midwest City, Oklahoma; brother, Don Bigham and wife Linda of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Bill Hulsey.
