Elven Harold "E.H." Scrimshire

Elven Harold Scrimshire, 94, of Pampa passed away on April 18, 2021 in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Vondel Stevens, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

E.H. was born September 20, 1926 in Roberts County to Elven Henry and Clara Scrimshire. He graduated from Miami High School in 1944, and immediately was drafted in the U.S. Army. He served stateside during WWII for 2 years, being discharged in 1946. On April 16, 1954 he married Yvonne Gillpatrick, she passed away on December 3, 2016 after 62 years of marriage. They made their home in Pampa, where they raised their son. He worked for Cornelius Motor Company for several years before beginning his career with Celanese. E.H. worked from 1955 until his retirement in 1988. E.H. also operated Scrimshire farm and ranch from the mid 70's until just a few years ago. He was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. E.H. was known as "Chief" to many and as "Pappy" to his granddaughter and great grandson. He enjoyed traveling with Yvonne after retirement throughout western U.S. and the Caribbean. E.H. loved pushing life to the limit, he sky dived for the first time in his late 70's, he also enjoyed scuba diving, riding motorcycles, and snow skiing. He was a very talented artisan working with wood and metal, making beautiful pieces. His works have been on display at the White Deer Land Museum. E.H. loved his family and will be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Maurine Grappe.

Survivors include his son, Rick Scrimshire and Sandra Blundell of Kingsland; a granddaughter, Anna Sullivan and husband Stephen of Bastrop; great grandson, Michael Sullivan; a brother-in-law, Jack Gillpatrick and wife Lou of Mustang, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

E.H. was the rock and patriarch of his family; he will be missed greatly.
