Eugene Brown, 89, of Pampa went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 30, 2026 in Amarillo.
Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ with Frankie Lemons officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Eugene was born on September 26, 1936 in Idabel, Oklahoma. At an early age, Eugene was forced to quit school so he could start working to help support his younger siblings. In 1956, he moved to Borger and married Hurlene Tillman on March 13, 1957. Together they had 5 children. They were married for 19 years before they decided to part ways. Eugene would eventually marry Georgia Loftis in Oklahoma. They would live there for several years before they would move to Pampa in 1984. She passed away on October 5, 2023.
Eugene spent most of his career in the oil field. He worked his way up to a supervisor at Dowell, where he worked for many years before retiring. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed his job. Eugene was a longtime member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ where he served as an Elder and assisted in many areas of the church. He was a man of God and loved sharing the gospel and he also served as traveling minister, filling in where he was needed. Eugene loved to help different charities, especially where children were involved.
Eugene loved his family and always took care of them. He would always take vacations with his family and they loved to travel. His witty personality and his big smile made it easy for people around him to feel at ease.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lonnie Jackson, Maudie Smith, and Gladys Anderson; three brothers, Alonzo Owens, Earnest Owens, and Jackie Anderson; daughter, Sandra Brown; three sons, Norman Brown, Eugene Brown, Jr., and DeWayne Brown; and a grandson, Elliott Hennington, II.
Survivors include three daughters, Whonda Ford of Enid Oklahoma, Rhonda Gail Patton and fiancé Franklin of Waner Robins, Georgia, and Tami Brown of Enid, Oklahoma; four sisters, Thelma Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mary Morris, Martha Lamar, and Lynda Levels all of Lubbock; two brothers, Vernon Anderson and wife Gayle and Carl Anderson all of Lubbock; three step sons, Tommye Price and wife Constance of Dallas, Michael Loftis of Amarillo, and Dale Blackmon and wife Sue of Lubbock; two step daughters, Dinah Reed of Pampa and Rita Price of Dallas; two granddaughters, Jasmine and Jade; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family members.
