Frances Gooding Lam

Frances Gooding Lam, 96, of Pampa, passed away on December 15, 2021 in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 20, 2021 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Frances was born December 27, 1924 in Goodlett, Texas to Bill and Mimia Gooding. She attended schools in Quanah and graduated from Quanah High School. In 1942, she moved to Pampa and married the love of her life, Bill Lam, on February 21, 1943 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Bill preceded her in death on January 10, 1991. Frances worked at Citizens Bank for 20 years before retiring. After she retired from the bank, Frances worked several years for the family businesses, Bill’s Short Stop Grocery and Bill’s Kerr McGee. Frances was a member of the O.E.S. for many years. She was longtime member Central Baptist Church where she was involved in the benevolent ministry and also helped every week with Sunday school attendance and Sunday school offering. Frances was faithful and loved her church and family. She had a giving and caring heart and was a joy to be around. Frances enjoyed crocheting blankets and quilting.

She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Scottie Gates, Nancy Barbee, and Hob Hamric; 2 brothers, Bill Gooding and Evert Gooding; and a grandson, David Luedecke.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Nancy Brown and husband Billy and Cindy Abbott and husband Doug all of Pampa; 6 grandchildren, Mechelle Moon, Bill Luedecke, Sherry Harvin and husband Jackie, Shyla Rush and husband Joe, Jeanne Woodworth and husband Paul, and James Brown; 7 great grandchildren, Rebecca Coffey and husband Seth, Kristina Brown, Josh Harvin, Kristen Harvin, Leyton Hiebert, Landon Hiebert, and Lilly Moon; 3 great great grandchildren, Eli Middlebrook, Scarlett Harvin, and Nohlan Coffey.

Memorials can be sent to Central Baptist Church, 513 E Francis Ave, Pampa, TX 79065.
