Frank Ray Manning, Jr., 71, of Pampa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026 in Pampa.
Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery with his nephew, Dr. Danny Kirkpatrick, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Frank was born on January 23, 1955, in Pampa to Ray and Frances Manning. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1973 and continued his education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1978. Frank spent more than 40 years working in the grocery industry, holding positions with Albertson’s, Skaggs, Alpha Beta, and United Grocery stores in Amarillo and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Throughout his career, he developed a strong work ethic and eventually retired as a produce manager.
In 2001, Frank returned to his hometown of Pampa and began working for Pampa Independent School District. During his time with the district, he served in several capacities, including Spanish interpreter in the ESL classroom, special education tutor, and DAEP monitor.
Frank was a natural storyteller who enjoyed sharing a good story and a hearty laugh. Although he tended to keep a small circle of friends and often enjoyed his time alone, those who knew him appreciated his kind and gentle nature. He was a true gentleman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. One of his most cherished experiences was a special trip to Maui, where he enjoyed the opportunity to relax, explore the beautiful scenery, and take in the sights. It was a memorable adventure that held a special place in his heart.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Mark Manning; and his nephew, Matthew Kirkpatrick.
Survivors include his sister, Chris Kirkpatrick and husband Reed of Pampa; nephew, Dr. Danny Kirkpatrick and wife Michelle of Lubbock; and three great nieces and nephews, Caedmon, Anna, and Tess.
