October 2, 1928 — January 23, 2020

Frankie Cambell Kreis, 91, of White Deer, passed away January 23, 2020 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at White Deer United Methodist Church in White Deer, with Rev. Monte Kreis, his son and pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Midland, and Rev. Robert Burke pastor of White Deer United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Frankie was born October 2, 1928 in Brinkman, Oklahoma, northeast of Mangum, Oklahoma, to James D. and Addie Lee Kreis.  As a young boy, his family moved in a covered wagon to Bailyburg, Texas.  A few years later, they moved to Skellytown where his dad had a trucking business.  As a sophomore in high school, Frankie went to work for his uncle, Les Kreis, moving houses.  In fact, he moved the theater from Skellytown to Spearman. Frankie would meet the love of his life, Ellen Mynear.  They later married on April 10, 1948 and they shared many good years before she preceded him in death in 1994.

He later went to work for G K Trucking and in 1950, he went to work for Skelly/Getty Oil Company as the chief overhaul mechanic where he worked for 45 years.  In 1957, Frankie and Ellen moved from Skellytown to White Deer where they lived in the house that he and his son, Monte built together.  In 1962, Frankie and Ellen opened White Deer Feed where he and Monte ground and mixed feed. Later they expanded the feed store to include selling tires and hardware.  Many tires and flats were fixed at White Deer Feed and Hardware until Frankie’s retirement in 1998.  He was known for his hard work ethic.

Frankie was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include his son, Monte Kreis and wife Sherrie of Stanton; three granddaughters, Stephanie Luster and husband Lionel of Bridgeport, Shasta Bryan and husband Chris, and Shante Ezell and husband Michael, all of Stanton; and nine great grandchildren and host of extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to White Deer United Methodist Church, PO Box 835, White Deer, Texas 79097.
