George E. Eggleston, 79, of Pampa passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mike Watson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
George was born on February 14, 1941 in Elk City, Oklahoma to George and Velva Cardin Eggleston. He attended school in Elk City where he later graduated high school. George married Carol Lewallen on October 13, 1958 in Wheeler. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2016. They moved from Elk City to Pampa in 1961. George was a member of Hobart Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for a few years. He worked in the oilfield for most of his life at Welex and then Halliburton when the company changed. George also worked at Computalog and Titan before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking, playing his guitar, water skiing, golfing, fishing, and riding horses and roping. George loved spending time with his family more than anything in the world.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; 3 brothers, Garaland Eggleston, Orland Eggleston, and Sonny Eggleston; 3 sisters, Janice Piercy, Freida Barrow, and Mary Eggleston; and his maternal grandmother, Laura Bell Cardin.
George is survived by his 3 children, Debbie Dixon and husband Robert, Sherri Fortenberry and husband Rodney all of Pampa, and Glen Eggleston of Dallas; 2 sisters, Deanna Mulford and Olga Fuller; 8 grandchildren, Lindsey Wall and husband Dustin, Robbie Dixon and wife Amber, Jareth Fortenberry, Gavin Eggleston and wife Julie, Colden Fortenberry, Garrett Eggleston and wife Lindsey, Jessie Dixon, and Bailey Dixon; 7 great-grandchildren, Aubree Wall, Berklee Wall, Gunner Eggleston, Henley Dixon, Hannah Dixon, Joy Eggleston, and one on the way, Elsie Eggleston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks Digna Chilton and Karen Howell Hapeman and to the staff at Interim Hospice, Accolade Home Health, and Pampa Regional Medical Center for the excellent care they gave George.
