Gwen McClure

Gwen McClure, 89, of Pampa passed away on November 4, 2020 in Pampa.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery with Keith Feerer, minister at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Gwen was born February 14, 1931 in Laketon to Homer and Mae Powell.  She married Rusty McClure on December 31, 1957 in Borger.  After they married, they lived in Pampa and later moved to Laketon to begin farming for over 25 years.  She worked for Gray County as a clerk from 1954 until 1974.  In 1995 they moved back to Pampa.  She was a long-time member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ.  Gwen was an excellent cook, seamstress, and a perfectionist.  Every project she did, whether it was sewing or rebuilding a wall, it had to be perfect.  She loved all kind of animals.  Gwen enjoyed family time together, especially during the holiday when they made homemade candy as a family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Shawn McClure; 2 brothers, Gerald Powell and Ronnie Powell.

She is survived by her husband, Rusty of the home; 2 sons, Gary McClure and wife Delia and Jon McClure and wife Diane all of San Diego, California; a daughter, Gayla Pickens of Pampa; 3 grandchildren, Galen Pickens of Iowa Park, Kacy Oliver and husband Aaron of Amarillo, and Gary McClure, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; a great grandchild, Cameron Oliver; a brother, Daryl Powell and wife Jean of Dallas; and numerous nephews and a niece. 

The family would like to thank Pamela Mathis and Interim Hospice for their love and care, also Anna Portillo for taking wonderful care of Gwen during her illness.
