Helen L. Crawford Furgason, 83, of Pampa, entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ with Buddy Allen, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at the funeral home.
Helen was born on February 19, 1943 in Canadian to Pat and Rosie Bohannon Crawford. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1961. Helen married the love of her life, JL Furgason, on March 3, 1962 in Pampa. She was incredibly proud to be his bride. They were happily married for 58 years until JL’s passing in 2020. Helen worked at JC Penney’s and in the cafeteria at the school in Skellytown for many years. However, her favorite career was being a homemaker. She loved nothing more than caring for her family.
Helen’s faith was deeply important to her, and she showed that through her actions every day. She taught Sunday school for several years and volunteered in the clothing room at church. Helen was also actively involved with the church’s jail and prison ministry and was an integral part of the Mary and Martha’s women’s group at church.
Helen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, putting together puzzles, and playing cards with her family. She also enjoyed watching her favorite tv shows like the Andy Griffith Show, Perry Mason, Murder She Wrote, and Matlock. She liked to watch the Texas Rangers play and only occasionally yelled at the TV when watching them play. Helen was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She tried her best to make it to all of their sporting events and if she couldn’t make it to the game, you could be sure that someone was calling to tell her the score so she could record it in her book. Helen’s faith and her family were the two greatest joys in her life. Her greatest accomplishment in life was making sure her family knew Jesus.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, JL Furgason; her parents, Pat Crawford and Rosie Bohannon Crawford Trasazel; a grandson-in-law, Jonathan Taylor; five sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her three children, Johnny Furgason and wife Susan, Jacky Furgason, and Rebecca Fulton and husband Doug, all of Pampa; and her grandchildren and their families, Mikala Taylor and her daughter, JoLee Jane, Kolbi Linder, her husband Ty and their children, Aniston and Levi, Nathan Furgason, his wife Bennett and their children, Scout, Eva Rhea, Penny, Wren, and Billie, Christian Reeves, his wife Brittany and their children, William “Liam” and Brailynn, Nick Wells, his wife Alexis and their children, Lane and Marloe; Michaela Wells and her daughter, Olivia, Payton Wells, his wife KiYa and their children, Dezabella, Benjamin, and Amethyst, Joseph Furgason, Jerritt Furgason, MaKayla Whalen, her husband Joey and their children, Rylee, Emilee, Preslee, and Charlee, Lorelai Fulton, and Alex Fulton.
