Helen McGill, 77, of Pampa, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026 in Pampa.
Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 16, 2026 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Kyle Oshfeldt, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Helen was born July 2, 1948 in Pampa to McRoy and Velma Wright. She was a Pampa High School graduate. During high school, she obtained her cosmetology license. Helen held her cosmetology license for over 63 years. She was a hairdresser for many years before going into sales. Helen worked for RDA Promart selling beauty supplies all over the area. Helen has always been a strong and independent woman. She not only took pride in her independence but also her Native American heritage.
On August 1, 1967, she married Bill McGill in Pampa. They have celebrated over 58 years of marriage. Bill always referred to Helen as his “Wonder Woman”. Helen was a great mother and “mimi”, not only to her children and grandchildren but all the neighborhood kids as well. Every Friday night she would have the grandchildren sleep over and she provided them with whatever they wanted. She loved being around kids and she enjoyed spoiling all of them.
Over the years Helen enjoyed being a jewelry dealer. She spent many hours at craft shows selling jewelry but also visiting and making new friends. Helen enjoyed spending time in Las Vegas when she had the opportunity and she also loved going to market to buy jewelry to sell, but also some for herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Bill of the home; daughter, Delisa Hendrick and husband Jason of Amarillo; son, David McGill and wife Deanna of Pampa; grandchildren, Chase Hendrick, Caige Hendrick and wife Makayla, Macy Hendrick, and Dacie Dunham and husband Caleb; and great grandchildren, Layla Ann, Emma Grace and soon to arrive Rowan Lee; and a brother, Wendell “Bunky” Wright and wife Linda of Sherman.
The family would like to give special thanks to Interim Healthcare, Crystal, Patsy, and her private care provider, Stephanie.
