Herman “Lynn” Wilson, 75, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, after a long illness. His life was devoted to faith, family, and service.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Memory Gardens with Zac Green of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Born on January 24, 1950, in Pampa, Texas, Lynn lived a life shaped by humility, conviction, and compassion. He attended primary and secondary schools in Texas and Kansas and attended college at Pittsburg State University in Kansas.
In 1972, Lynn married the love of his life, Pamela Ann Scheurich. Together they shared a strong, faithful marriage marked by devotion to each other and their family. Their bond was one of quiet strength, joy, and enduring love.
Lynn was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served honorably in Germany, where he was stationed for the duration of his service. It was during that time that both of his sons were born—an experience he treasured deeply.
After his military service, Lynn answered a calling to ministry and became a devoted preacher for the Church of Christ. Over the years, he faithfully shared the gospel, provided spiritual guidance, and cared deeply for his congregation and community. Lynn was a preacher in Jefferson, Iowa; Dodge City, Kansas; and Columbus, Texas. His calm presence, sincere faith, and gentle wisdom left a lasting mark on countless lives.
He is survived by his two sons: Steven Wilson (wife Kathryn) of Alexandria, Virginia, and their children, Austin and Lucy; and Brian Wilson (wife Laura) of Austin, Texas, and their children, Henry and Josephine. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney Wilson (wife Connie) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, along with a large extended family who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Fay Wilson (née Bigham), and by his beloved wife, Pam.
Lynn will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, and the deep love he showed to everyone around him. His legacy of service, kindness, and spiritual leadership will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of your choice.
