Hermelinda “Melis” DeLaTorre, 56, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jose Luis Cervantes, pastor of Pena de Restauracion, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Melis was born on April 13, 1967, in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Mario and Ramona Portillo. In 1983, she married the love of her life, Gerardo DeLaTorre. The couple moved to Pampa in 1984 and have been in the community ever since. Together Melis and Gerardo owned and operated the Hickory Hut for many years.
Outside of work, Melis loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music as well. Melis had the most beautiful smile, and she will be missed by so many.
Melis is preceded in death by her parents, Mario and Ramona Portillo; a sister, Ramona Portillo; brothers Isidro Portillo and David Portillo; and a niece, Dora Portillo.
She is survived by her husband, Gerardo DeLaTorre; two daughters, Araceli Mejia and husband Juan, and Viviana DeLaTorre; son, Gerardo DeLaTorre, Jr. and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Johnny, Israel, Issac, Nahum, Yelin, Austyn, Ryder, and Lexy; great-grandson, Ayden; sister, Patricia Cabrales; two brothers, Felipe Portillo and Ernesto Portillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Pampa Dialysis Clinic for taking such good care of Melis for the last two years.
