Jacey Richardson

Jacey Renae Richardson, of Groom, passed away on May 4, 2024.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Jericho Cemetery, with Tim Packard, officiating. Arrangements are provided by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jacey Renae Richardson was born on August 20, 1981, in Pampa, TX, to the parents of Joe and Jody Richardson.  As a child she enjoyed riding her horses and competing in many junior rodeos.  She graduated from Groom High School in 1999.  After graduation, she attended Western Oklahoma State College on a rodeo scholarship and was a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association competing in the Central Plains Region.  

She later attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University and continued competing in rodeo.  She graduated in 2003 with a degree in Animal Science. 

After graduation she moved back to Amarillo and worked at various jobs.   She then bought a house in Groom and spent the next several years helping her dad work.  She also enjoyed the outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jody Richardson; her grandparents, Charles and Jackie Rennie; uncle, Todd Freeman; and cousin, Jordan Freeman.

She was survived by her brother, Joe Rae Richardson of Bushland; sister, Julie Britten of Claude; aunt and uncle, Tim and Kelly Packard; aunt and uncle, Jim and Marsha Richardson; aunt, Sissy Freeman; cousin, Jarett Freeman and wife Tatum; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
