Jacquetta “Jackie” Tanner, 86, formerly of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 in Amarillo.
No services are scheduled at Jackie’s request. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Jackie was born on June 22, 1939 in Ryan, Oklahoma to George and Fannie Hare. She attended schools in Fleetwood and Terral, Oklahoma and went on to complete her training in cosmetology. On December 22, 1957, she married Charles R. Tanner and they celebrated 57 years together before he passed away on June 15, 2015.
She and Charles moved around while he served his time in the military. He was discharged in 1961 and they made their home in Pampa. Jackie worked for several different companies over the years which include, The Wig Shop, Marie Foundation, S&H Green Stamp, and C.R. Anthony’s.
Jackie was a wonderful wife and a great caregiver for Charles. She loved to vacuum and clean her house as she wanted to be spotless. She took pride in having a clean house. Jackie was known as “Nan” to her grandchildren and did everything she could to spoil them. She loved them dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lilburn; three sisters, Jetta, Wanda, and Audrey.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Tanner Lamberth of Barefoot Bay, Florida; son, Craig R. Tanner and wife Sarah of Canyon; two grandchildren, Cody S. Lamberth of Barefoot Bay, Florida and Caitlyn Tanner Craig and husband Jacob of Pampa; and one great granddaughter, Madison Craig.
