Jean Ladd

October 25, 1924 — September 30, 2020

Jean Catherine Wieneskie Ladd, age 95, of Pampa, passed away September 30, 2020 at her daughter Linda's home in Amarillo, Texas.  She was surrounded by Linda and her dedicated caregiver Grasiela Camacho.

A Vigil service will be held at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel at 6:00 PM, Monday, October 5, 2020 with Rev. Francisco Perez, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, officiating.

A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. John Valdez, pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo as celebrant. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.   

Mrs. Ladd was born October 25, 1924 in Cleburne, Texas to Carl and Clara Bartniski Wieneskie. She was extremely proud of her Polish heritage. She graduated from Cleburne High School. She married Dale Ladd on February 24, 1947 in Cleburne. Mr. and Mrs. Ladd moved to Pampa in 1947. Mr. Ladd preceded her in death March 24, 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Rita Thomas, one nephew, Eric Thomas of Cleburne and one brother, Frank Wieneskie and Christina Wieneskie, sister-in-law of Temple.

Mrs. Ladd was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Pampa and retired after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers a volunteer network. Mrs. Ladd was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Women of the Cloth quilting and sewing guild.  Mrs. Ladd attended St. Thomas Catholic Church in Amarillo with Linda before she required hospice care at home.  Mrs. Ladd loved to travel with her daughter Linda.

One the most memorable trips was to Poland where her father departed and came to America.    She enjoyed taking care of the many flower gardens and plants at her home and working outside. She was creative and talented in sewing and artistic projects.

Mrs. Ladd moved to Amarillo May 2016 to live with her daughter Linda. Mrs. Ladd' s poise, dignity, kindness and demeanor will never be forgotten. She will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her daughter Linda Ladd of Amarillo, her daughter Regina Jones and husband Mike, of Pampa; one brother, Andrew Wieneskie of Cleburne; two grandsons, Josh Jones and wife Kelli and Adam Jones and wife Anna all of Midland; five great-grandchildren, Kyndall, Allison, Jacob, Isla and Jett and many nieces and nephews. The greatest joys in her life were her two grandsons and her five great-grandchildren.

Thanks and gratitude are expressed to BSA Hospice Caregivers of Amarillo who loved and cared for Mrs. Ladd during her illness in Amarillo.

Thank you Grasiela Camacho, Ginny Delgado, Marla Gales, Rhonda Binkley, and Annette Sargeant who loved and cared for Mrs. Ladd.
