Jennie was born in Blackton, Arkansas on September 6, 1940 and met and married the love of her life Charles “Pete” T. Shaw, Sr. on May 31, 1957, when she was only sixteen years old. They were married 57 years prior to Pete’s passing in 2013. Jennie and Pete had three children, two daughters and one son. Jennie retired from Texas A&M Library Human Resource Department after serving 20 plus years as an administrative assistant. Jennie loved her job and loved Texas A&M. She loved going on annual girl trips with her co- workers and friends to go gambling at the casino after saving all her change in a tube sock all year.

After retirement Jennie enjoyed living on the farm with her husband Pete in Franklin, TX. She and Pete cared for a ¼ acre garden every summer and could be found chopping and dicing canning and freezing veggies each summer. Jennie was a great cook, and all the family enjoyed her meals. Some favorite dishes included homemade chicken and noodles, “Jennie’s junk” casserole as well as her famous hush puppies served up for any fish fry gathering.

Jennie worked in her garden and yard planting star gazing lilies along the fence line between the yard and pasture. She also loved playing games and watching gameshows on TV. There were many family events and holidays as well as “just because” days spent at the Shaw place in Franklin, TX.

Jennie loved playing games and laughing and teasing, you would find her playing Skip Bo daily after lunch at the kitchen table as well as bingo and family feud to name a few. She loved watching the grands ride the 4- wheeler, fishing, swimming in the pond and climbing on hay, wandering around in the woods all while grabbing strawberries and grapes fresh off the vine for a snack in the sweet summertime.

Jennie relocated from the Brazos Valley in October of 2024 to be closer to her family and moved into Meredith Court where she made very genuine lasting friendships and relationships. She was loved and cared for at Meredith Court until the past few weeks when she relocated to her son’s home in Pampa, Tx. Jennie was loved on and cared for by Charlie and Jan Shaw and Lisa Gill of Canadian, TX., Julianna Shaw and Caleb McCann of the home until her passing.

Jennie was a very witty and funny individual and loved teasing and laughing. She loved her family the best she could and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Newkirk four years ago. Surviving children include Tina Wagner and husband Joe of Brownwood, Tx and Charlie Shaw and wife Jan of Pampa, TX; seven grandsons and one granddaughter; 3 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Meredith Court Activity Fund and or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital a charity dear to her heart.
