Jim was born on April 26, 1943 in Pampa in Bill and Mildred Stanley. He attended school in Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1961. After graduating, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country until he was discharged in 1965. During his time in the military Jim was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and a Rifle Expert Badge for his achievements on the sharpshooter team. Jim married Sharron Mayfield on February 1, 1964 in Skellytown. He went to work at an electric company in Shamrock for a few years before starting his career as a chemical engineer at Celanese. He moved his family to Houston for a few years while working for Celanese but made his way back to Pampa in 1976. Jim retired from Celanese in 2002 after a 30-year long career.

Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He and Sharron spent six months on the beach in Galveston after his retirement, catching all the fish they could. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and old western tv shows. However, the most important thing in Jim’s life was his family and he cherished nothing more than getting to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Jim will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mildred Stanley; and his wife of 51 years, Sharron Stanley.

Jim is survived by his four daughters, Angela Berryhill and husband Doc of Bridgeport, Sheri Alderson and husband Ronny of Amarillo, Candy Branscum of Amarillo, and Barbie Pacheco and husband Randy of Gatesville; nine grandchildren, Alisha Berryhill, Brad Berryhill and wife Kelsey, Charity Moncrief and husband Larry, Cody Brown, Erik Brown, Christopher Alderson, Chrissy Branscum Dailing, R’ Shel Pacheco, and Randy Pachecho; and seven great-grandchildren, Hailey Brown, Sophia Berryhill, Madison Berryhill, Abigail Berryhill, Nolan Covey, Juleon Dailing, and Sharron Dailing.
