Jimmy was born on July 2, 1952, in Pampa to Ann and Jimmy Raymond Shelton. Jimmy was a lifetime Gray County resident where he finished school, worked and raised his family. On September 4, 1976, in Hedley, he married his true love, Donna Kay Record, and they raised their two sons and shared almost 46 years of marriage before her passing in 2022.
Jimmy worked most of his life in the propane industry as a delivery driver. He worked for Skelly Oil for many years until its closing in 1995. Jimmy went on to work for Signal Fuel where he retired in the late 2010s. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors and found great pleasure with fishing and camping.
As a teenager and young man Jimmy had a passion for cattle and worked with his father moving herds around Gray County as well as working a short time as a feedlot cowboy. While in school he showed Hereford cows, a passion he shared with his granddaughter. Through his passion he also got very involved with FFA and began showing livestock.
Jimmy was a member of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ and the most important thing to Jimmy was his belief and his love and obedience to God. He could always be found reading his bible to help deepen his faith. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and by two sisters.
Jimmy is survived by his two sons, Michael Shelton and wife Jessica, and Joey Shelton; granddaughter, Julia Shelton; and other extended family.
