Jo Ann McKay was born November 10, 1942 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Ed and Dorothy Gattis. They moved to Pampa in 1948 and she attended Pampa High School. On May 24, 1959, she married the love of her life, LaMoyne Thomas “Tom” McKay in Pampa. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Jo Ann referred to Tom as her “Knight in Shining Armor” and she loved and adored him throughout their wonderful marriage. She worked for several companies in Pampa during her work career. Her last job was Jo Ann’s Creations, she owned and operated the business for several years until her health wouldn’t allow it. Jo Ann was very creative and enjoyed making beautiful arrangements and wreaths.

Jo Ann was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church. She had a passion for the Lord and lived her life for Jesus and spread the Gospel so all would come to know the Lord. The past few years she would write articles for the Pampa News on the Church page. Jo Ann always started her articles with “Dear Readers……and would sign it “Jo Ann McKay, servant of Jesus.” She left a legacy of serving Jesus and loving people.

Her hobbies included reading her Bible, decorating her home, and tending to her flower bed. Jo Ann was great seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She made everything she did special, whether it was a birthday party or a holiday, it didn’t matter. Jo Ann wanted everyone she met to feel special. She loved her family and will be missed dearly.
