Johnnie Price Slaymaker, 88, of Pampa, passed away on Dec. 21, 2021 in Pampa.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, Dec. 24, 2021 in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. Johnnie’s service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.
Johnnie was born July 29, 1933 in Fannin County, Texas. She was the last of nine children born to John T. McCollar and Mary Susie Clark McCollar. She attended schools in Bailey, Texas. She married Howard J. Price on June 11, 1949 in Bonham. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1998. She later married Marvin Slaymaker on May 3, 2001, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2016.
Johnnie had been a resident of Pampa since 1954. She worked in several grocery stores and as a bank teller for many years. Johnnie loved the Lord and was a 69-year member of First Baptist Church.
She loved to travel and spend her summers in the mountains of Colorado. Bridge was her favorite game, and she met many new friends that way, but her real joy was her family. Johnnie was a 50-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Pampa Chapter #65 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Majana Price, her parents, seven sisters, and a brother.
She is survived by her son, Mike Price and friend Cathy of Pampa; her stepchildren, Sherry Slaymaker of Denver, CO; Kerry Slaymaker and wife Suzette of Enid, OK; Nick Slaymaker and wife Jana of Noble, OK; Julie Slaymaker and Max of El Reno, OK; and Geri Shufelberger and husband Carl of Pampa; four grandchildren, Juston Williams of Fort Worth, Melisa Jones and husband Burton and Ashley Price, all of Pampa; and Lindsey Phillips and husband Justin of Lubbock; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Price of Lubbock, and by seven great grandchildren.
