Joyce was born February 23, 1947 in Los Angelas, California to Sam and Grace Godwin. She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas in 1965. Soon after graduating, she married the love of her life, Charles Moran. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage before he passed away on January 11, 2026. They lived in Japan for the first two years where Charles served during the Vietnam War. When Charles was discharged in 1967, they moved to the DFW area for a few years, before moving to Pampa in 1972. They pastored the Foursquare Church in Pampa until 1977. For the next 25 years, together they pastored several churches which included Wichita Falls for 9 years during the 80’s. Joyce was an ordained minister as well, and they were a great team together serving the Lord. Eventually they had the opportunity to serve at Life Pacific University in San Dimas, California where Joyce worked in the admission department and attended as a part time student for several years before they returned to Pampa.

Joyce was a longtime member of Briarwood Church where she volunteered in many areas of the church including Feed the Flock. Joyce loved Jesus more than anything and devoted her life to ministry, singing with her parents, siblings, Charles and her daughters. Joyce spent her quiet time with the Lord at the piano worshiping and writing songs. Joyce was also passionate about the prolife movement. She along with other women across the nation traveled to Washington during the Regan administration to talk to senators about the right to life.

Joyce enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her three girls and for some of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and floral arrangements. Joyce loved hosting and planning parties and get togethers with family and friends and especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Having all the family together was special and she cherished each moment. Joyce and Charles loved a good road trip, she especially enjoyed driving to Washington State to visit her daughters, sons-in-law, and grandkids. Joyce felt most at peace on a beach. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She very rarely missed an event or recital. For the past 13 years, she made every performance at the Dance Academy of Pampa to watch her grandson and granddaughter perform. Joyce was also a devoted caregiver of her parents as well as Charles in his later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandchildren, Noah Anderson and Michael Johnson

Survivors include her three daughters, Camille Dawn Moran of Pampa, Shelly Carol Johnson and husband Tim of Tyler, and Angela Marie Anderson and husband Eric of Pampa; five grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Johnson of Kalispell, Montana, Isaac David Johnson and wife Amber of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Elijah Paul Johnson and fiancée Emmalee Dayl of Tyler, Annelea Noel Faith Anderson Garvin and husband Daniel of Pampa, and Isaiah Noah Michael Anderson of Pampa; one great grandson due in August; brother, Dennis Godwin and wife Norma of Amarillo; sister, Carol Baumann and husband Darwin of Amarillo; and beloved niece and nephews.
